    Gardens vs. Gardening (Thrive 365)

    When:
    Tuesday, June 3, 2025
    12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
    Where:
    Nicol Hall
Room: Queen's Community Garden Behind Nicol Hall
    Find on Campus Map
    Description:

Session Overview: Take a break from your busy day to join us in the garden for a gentle, sensory experience. You'll have the chance to explore fresh herbs like mint, sage, chamomile, and lavender, then pick your favourite to brew a cup of soothing herbal tea.

Hot water, cups, tea bags, and freshly harvested herbs will be provided. As we sip, we'll reflect on how being fully present, in nature, with a warm cup in hand, can restore our sense of calm and wellbeing. Sometimes, it's not just about the tea; it's about where and how we enjoy it.

    Shine or Rain:
If it rains lightly, we'll still meet, just bring an umbrella! In case of heavy rain, the session may be postponed to a later date in the season.

Location: The New Garden Beds behind Nicol Hall

    Light Refreshments will be provided.

    Organizer and Facilitator

    Gardens 4 Joy

It is an initiative at 鶹ý that aims to help in fostering the wellbeing of students, faculty, and staff through gardens and gardening. Based on her previous research and decades of experience creating and savouring gardens, Dr. Maha Al Makhamreh founded this initiative and successfully implemented it in the spring of 2024.

Maha acknowledges: “Thanks to a big team of believers in positive change, passionate gardeners, and participants in every form, the initiative went above and beyond last season—and continues to thrive.”
