Led by the dynamic Music Director Naomi Woo, the National Youth Orchestra of Canada presents a defiant and visionary program, spanning fiery 20th-century masterpieces and bold modern creativity.
Experience the raw power of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10, a defiant 20th-century masterpiece. Written under Soviet oppression, its triumphant finale features Shostakovich’s coded musical signature (DSCH)—a symbol of artistic resistance.
Immerse yourself in the shimmering waves of Debussy’s La Mer. This revolutionary work reimagines the sea through "endless variations of rhythm and colour," blending impressionist beauty with orchestral daring. Finally, discover the future of Canadian music with a world première by Nicholas Protsack. Hailed by the Canadian Music Centre as "a composer to watch," Protsack's new work merges environmental themes with experimental improvisation, creating a sonic journey for the modern age.
