PE-Q is a 4 to 6 weeks program for students with mild-to-moderate symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. It is designed for students who are not currently physically active to help them gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to start exercising on their own to help improve their mental health.
This referral-only program is a collaboration between Student Wellness Services (SWS) and Athletics & Recreation (A&R) made possible thanks to donor funding.
Program components
Eligible students will receive:
- Four free 60-minute private sessions with personal trainer (PT)
- Two 30-minute appointments with a peer wellness coach (PWC) to set a goal to help transition to exercising independently
- An optional 30-minute program design session with a PT or 4 free group fitness class passes
- An optional final check-in appointment with a PWC
Timeline

How to get referred to PE-Q
Students can be referred to PE-Q at any point during the year. Once students receive a referral and have completed the intake process, they will be matched with a certified PT from A&R and a trained PWC from SWS.
Students can get a referral in any of the following ways:
- Booking an in-person
- Asking about PE-Q during a pre-existing medical or mental health appointment at SWS
